Explore The Wonders of New Hanover County with Sea Coast Realty
New Hanover County, named for the royal House of Hanover in Great Britain during the colonial era, was the site of some of the earliest settlements in North Carolina. After the dangers posed by local pirates such as Blackbeard (Edward Teach) were removed in the early 1700s, the population of this coastal region began to grow in earnest.
Now a thriving county with an estimated population of around 174,000, this picturesque area located in the southeast corner of North Carolina includes the city of Wilmington and the beach communities of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach.
